Chinese Swordsmanship - Integrating Stepping Techniques with Scott Rodell
Fighting Arts Collective, Toronto ON Canada
Footwork is an essential element of any sword training, yet it is often overlooked. The result is that during swordplay, many practitioners retreat out of distance and charge forward. Doing so they lose any sense of the correct distance and timing. The answer to this error is proper footwork that maneuvers the swordsman to a superior position. This is a position where he or she is both relatively safe and in distance to land a blow. This seminar will look closely at different stepping techniques, for both active and passive movement, that are integral to Jianfa and Daofa.
No prior training is required, however, proper safety gear is. A limited amount of loaner gear is available.
