To get an idea of what to expect from a weekend seminar, here’s a summary of a previous set of Andrea Falk seminars.
“I teach the traditional internal styles from the ground up. My emphasis is on basics and skills training, with understanding of applications. Expect a low-key session where you will work hard and leave with concrete skills to practise on your own. My personal style and preference has always been straightforward. I feel that this approach brings more in the long run - you get back from the martial arts only what you put in.” A. Falk

As the year's end quickly approaches I wanted to let you know about a set of seminars coming up in the new year.
On the last weekend in January, Andrea Falk will teach a weekend of Bagua & Xingyi workshops. She has been coming to Guelph since 2004 teaching these two internal martial arts as part of her twice-annual, cross-Canada tour.
Saturday, January 25th will cover Xingyi fundamentals and Xingyi Sabre. Xingyi is known for it's direct and straight-line movements. It is well suited to people looking for a practice that is clearly martial, but easier on the joints than external styles.
Sunday, January 26th will cover Bagua. There are many styles of Bagua but all focus on Circle Walking training to strengthen the ligaments and build internal power. Magui and Jiang styles of Bagua are the focus of the the Guelph seminars.
These weekends are a special opportunity to learn from one of North American's most experienced instructors and translators. Andrea Falk tours & trains internationally and has just published an authoritative English-Chinese Dictionary of Chinese Martial Arts.
The details on the seminars are on the club website and I encourage you to check them out.
All the best for the upcoming holiday season!
James Saper R.TCM.P.
