Laoshi Rodell: "As important as learning stepping technique is, understanding when to move and why is more important. Too often, stepping is used to neutralize an action by giving up distance, followed by moving forward in an attempt to regain that lost space. Stepping should instead be moving with the duifang’s action so that one achieve a superior position as the result."
