28 Sep 2018.  Our apologies for the late notice, but Robert Coons will be unable to join us on Saturday.  Accordingly, Metaphysical Theory of Taijiquan: the Daoist Perspective (Robert Coons) will not be presented, and that half hour has been replaced with a Round Table Discussion, and open Q&A (Question and Answer).  As per the feedback and suggestions from prior events, a 'talking stick' will be used, and only by those physically present in the room, to encourage contributions from a greater number of those present.  If you are able to join us, and have not yet registered, please do take this opportunity to hit the green Register button (see link in 22 Sept note).  For those that are able to arrive early, the kitchen opens at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, and you are welcome to join those already planning on brunching together before the Symposium at The Wooly.  Dining during and/or after is also an option.  Safe travels and see you there!

22 Sep 2018.  The Symposium is almost here, just a week away!  As a courtesy to the staff at The Wooly for room set-up, please click that Register button/link (see 06 Aug 2018 note, below), if you are able to confirm your attendance at this moment and have not already.  This includes requesting presenters to register, as we're looking to give The Wooly a headcount prior to the day.  Whether you are able to register in advance or not, come anyways, and feel free to bring along a friend or two!  Care to meet in advance for brunch at 1100 and/or interested in staying afterwards for a bite to eat?  RSVP to Jill Heath (click here), if you are able to commit at this time, to dine on your own dime.  We'd like to give staff a little notice, where possible.  Looking forward to seeing you there!

06 Aug 2018.  Ebroadcast to members:  Please share this information with whomever you think might be interested.  Thanks to those who have already registered.  If you are planning on attending, please click on the green Registration button (if seeing this via the CTF website).  If seeing this information elsewhere, you can register by clicking on this link:  Take me there! I want to register!  Due to the size of the room, registration will be limited, so don't delay.

As The Wooly Pub is not charging us for the use of the room, please consider sustenance intake for your body whilst you are there feeding your brain.  Alternately, consider arriving early and/or staying later and sampling their menu.  You can view their menu, and more by visiting their website here:  The Wooly Pub.  Click on Our Menus in the upper left corner to peruse their offerings in advance.

More to follow.  Stay tuned.

29 July 2018--date and venue confirmed!  More to follow.  Thanks to those who have sent in submissions--keep them coming, as this has become a series, due to popular demand and support from our membership.  Thank you!  Consider becoming a member today!

01 June 2018--One month to go to submission deadline!  Exact location and timing will be posted to our website as it becomes available, and ebroadcast to our membership.  Not a member?  Become one today!

Call for papers for Harvest Moon event 2018

The Canadian Taijiquan Federation is planning an autumn event to mark the Harvest Moon in 2018.

We invite practitioners, teachers, and contemplatives to submit a paper to the CTF by July 1, 2018.  The program will be confirmed by July 30.  The papers are expected to address a question or a set of questions related to the practice, theory, and history of taijiquan or qigong.  They should be based either on your own experience, or on relevant published information (books, articles, etc.), or on both.

A paper should be approximately between 2 and 4 pages long (please make sure that you are using single space and font 12pt) plus a few illustrations if necessary.   The references to relevant published sources should be made inside the text, using endnotes (author, title, publisher, and the year of publication for each source, plus page numbers in the case of quotations).  Also, please attach your short biography.

The paper should be submitted in .doc or .pdf format to enable sharing with the selection committee.  Please submit by email.

The selected papers will be presented to attending Taiji enthusiasts and students.  Please allow about 15 minutes for the presentation, including time for some questions or discussion.

We plan to publish the papers in the Taichitongren.ca, the CTF blog, in other blogs, and in school newsletters.
