From Sifu Steve Higgins, of Cold Mountain:
Here's an update on what we are planning for our celebration on Feb. 17th. of the Chinese New Year. It is open to the entire community, so please invite your friends!
Patricia Beretta's '4 Directions and 5 Elements' Qigong will kick off the workshops at 9:30 a.m., followed by Lisbeth Haddad on 'River Walking' and finally Adriaan Blaauw on 'Tai Chi Stepping'. After a 1 1/2 hour break for lunch (either brown bag or head off to local eateries), Malcolm MacQuarrie will do a final workshop on '4-square Tai Chi forms'. So, all workshops have a related focus.
At 3:15 there will be a Lion Dance and then Tai Chi performances until about 5:00 or 5:30. Performances will commence and end with an invitation to all present to join in the 1st section of the Yang 108 to open and the 24-posture Modern 'Beijing' form to close. Whether you know them or not doesn't matter! The objective is to get up and have some fun moving.
There is no fee for the workshops or events, but there will be donation pots out to help us cover our costs.
The final event is a potluck dinner, so bring food and join us! Fridge and stove are available as well as plug-ins for crockpots and slow cookers.
Cheers!
Steve.
