Workshop April 8-9, 2017 Scott Rodell on the Dao (Military Saber):
First time LaoShi Rodell is teaching a workshop focusing on the Dao.
HanWei Forge will be releasing their Rodell Chinese cutting Dao this year. See attached.
To make the most of this momentum, GRTC Toronto has organised 2 Saber workshops for 2017 (second workshop is Nov 4-5, 2017).
This workshop will introduce the 13 Tai Ji saber cuts, saber body mechanic, saber footwork, two-handed saber techniques (half-swording), and saber applications against swords/polearms. Learn the difference in intent and striking/cutting target between a jian/sword and a dao/saber. Why is the saber considered a military weapon? What is the significance of the martial adage: Sword moves like a dragon, Saber moves like a tiger?
