Vancouver Workshops: Sam Masich July 30-August 7

Hi folks,

July 30 - August 2: Sam Masich, 10am-6pm, Trout Lake. The annual push hands camp, this year focusing on dalu!

Over these four days we will study the 'Large Rollback' (Dalü) which is an extension of Four-hands (Sizheng Tuishou). 'Dalü' an extension the peng, lü, ji, an method but with 'cai'/'lie' substituting for 'lü'and 'zhou''/'kao' substituting for 'ji'. The dynamic stepping patterns of the Large Rollback highlight the combination of agility and rootedness in taijiquan.

August 4 - August 7: Sam Masich, 10am-6pm, Trout Lake. The annual weapons camp, this year focusing on Sam's two-person sword form!

Study of the 5 Section Taijiquan Partner Sword Form brings a new dimension to both the sword and to taijiquanpartner training. Along with gaining a deeper understanding of the many fascinating skills particular to the sword, players can improve their ability to sense and respond to a partner using taijiquan principles.

In China, masters of the jian (sword) had a profound effect on almost every aspect of life and were instrumental in shaping the country’s history, folklore and performance culture. In the class we will learn and enjoy the sword as a form of art and self defense. Please bring both a wooden and metal sword if possible.
*Upon completion of the full course students will receive a certificate acknowledging the training. Suitable for both early and advanced practitioners.
